Ella is really excited to be a bis sister and help out with Maggie. She loves to hold her.

Here's one that looks a lot like Ella as an infant!

Ella did a good job of finding things to entertain her at the hospital. I never thought about before, but hospitals are incredibly boring for 3 year olds.

Steph and Maggie on Saturday.

We are home

Thanks to our nurse, we left the hospital on Monday rather than today and are enjoying being at home. There is something to be said for your own surroundings and especially your own bed to help everyone relax. Ella is still adjusting to the new family dynamics but she loves her sister very much. She has been very happy the last two nights when I promised her that we were not going back to the hospital. Maggie has gained back some of the weight she lost at the hospital and is eating and sleeping pretty regularly. It is scary how much she looks like Ella did as an infant. There are times that we have to remind ourselves who we are holding!

New pics

I got a few pictures up for everyone to see! The hospital internet connection is being bothersome so I may have to wait to get home before I get any more pics or video posted.

Everyone is doing well. Ella was excited to meet her sister, we've had a few visitors, and Steph is still recovering well. I have to say that c-sections are the easier way to go so far. Hopefully everything will continue to move smoothly and we'll be able go home on Monday.

This first day has been a blur and we are all very tired so I'll add more tomorrow when I get some time.

It's a girl!

We had a beautiful baby girl! Maggie Sophia Hoglund was born at 9:58 AM this morning. She weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was 20 in long. Steph did very well during her operation, recovered quickly, and we are all bonding in our room. I forgot the cable to the camera or I would have uploaded pictures and video already. I'll post pics soon!

Ella has actually started licking the icing off the cupcake by her hand. She couldn't wait to share.

Ella's Early Birthday Party

We celebrated Ella's 3rd birthday today with her cousins Molly and Mathew. The big day is actually on the 17th but with baby coming on the 20th we decided to party a little early.

Good times, good food, good cake.

Baby will be here Feb. 20th

So, we found out that little Henry or Maggie is bum first (breech for those of you that don't know what "bum first" means) and since doctors don't like to deliver bum first babies any more we have scheduled a c-section for 9:30 AM on Feb. 20th. It seems that for the last 3 months the reason Steph has been able to feel the baby's head in her ribs is because it has been breech. Explains a lot but doesn't make it any easier for us. We're both excited and nervous but I figure they do this every day, right?

So, we'll keep you posted. Henry or Maggie could still flip before the 20th, which would cancel the c-section, but we're not counting on it.
